Dubai Police History

Dubai Police is a powerful law enforcement agency in the United Arab Emirates, serving the city of Dubai. With a workforce of approximately 17,500 personnel, it ensures the security of the 4,114-square-kilometer emirate, home to a population of 2.8 million.

Headquartered in Al Twar, Dubai, the force operates under the leadership of Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri. Dubai Police consists of three main departments: the General Department of Operations, the General Department of Artificial Intelligence, and the General Department of Criminal Investigation.

Dubai Police was founded in June 1956 in Naif, Deira, Dubai, where its first police station was established. known as Naif Fort, initially had only 29 members. Over time, the force grew to 105 officers in 1960 and expanded further to 430 in 1967.

In 1973, the headquarters was relocated to Al-Twar on Al-Etihad Street in Dubai. Future plans include moving to a newly built headquarters in Deira. Dubai Police aims to be the most advanced law enforcement agency in the UAE.

The force prioritizes high educational standards for its personnel. It has made history by being the first in the UAE to implement electronic fingerprinting and DNA testing. Additionally, Dubai Police was also the first to use the GPS system in its operations.
